Lehman Studio Star EX4 Slip Pump with 1/2 HP Motor, Hose and Nozzle External mounted pump for hobby and light use slip casting

Operating Instructions

lehman slip casting pump ex4The EX4 uses the same pump parts as the SP4 except it is designed to mount externally. It also has a 1/2 h.p. motor, 1" hose and 1" nozzle, and the inlet hose to connect it to a tank. This pump is used on several models of our casting tables. Both the EX4 and SP4 have an 8' electrical cord with an inline switch. The EX4 is easy to install and to use creating and efficient casting system.
Our casting tables are equipped with a pump relief bypass system that allows slip to circulate back into the tank when the pouring nozzle is closed. There is a small amount of agitation as a result of this but not enough to mix slip or reclaim trimmings. An optional mixer is available for these purposes.

Lehman Slip casting pump hose and nozzleConnect the external EX4 Pump outside any slip tank for an efficient casting system. A 1" x 8' pouring hose with utility nozzle and inlet hose to connect the pump to tank are included. The pump is direct driven by a 1/2 hp motor with an 8' on/off electrical cord. Pumping capacity varies from four (4) to seven (7) gpm depending on model and slip viscosity. Recommended for use for small volume casting applications. The normal life expectancy is about 1600 hours before rebuilding is required. The Lehman Studio Star external pump was designed for the small to medium size ceramic studio. It is not suitable for production casting or commercial use. This pump is located on the outside of the tank and is coupled directly to the motor with a flexible coupling. This pump is not designed to be submersed in slip. The pump has packings that are exposed to the slip. These packings keep the shaft aligned as well as to keep the pump from leaking. The packings will wear due to the abrasive nature of slip. They can be adjusted when leakage occurs (see section on care and maintenance), but they will eventually have to be replaced when adjustment no longer stops the pump from leaking. Because the packings are subject to wear, DO NOT LET THE MACHINE RUN EXCESSIVELY WHEN YOU ARE NOT POURING MOLDS.Pumping capacity varies from four (4) to seven (7) gpm depending on model and slip viscosity
