NEPHELINE SYENITE 400M-MINEX 4
Nepheline syenite is a holocrystalline plutonic rock that consists largely of nepheline and alkali feldspar. The rocks are mostly pale colored, grey or pink, and in general appearance they are not unlike granites, but dark green varieties are also known. Phonolite is the fine-grained extrusive equivalent.
MINEX fillers, made from Nepheline syenite, offer high performance, regulatory compliance, and sustainability for coatings, paints, adhesives, and inks. They enhance weatherability, UV resistance, and durability, resist yellowing and chemicals, and improve corrosion resistance and coverage. Available in multiple grades, they rapidly disperse in systems, supporting versatile, high-quality formulations.
MINEX is made of nepheline syenite, a mineral consisting of nepheline and feldspar. Because nepheline only occurs in rocks that are deficient in silica, nepheline syenite products are virtually silica-free. Covia’s nepheline syenite is responsibly mined from high-purity ore reserves in Blue Mt., Ontario, Canada. In functional fillers, nepheline’s hardness confers excellent resistance to abrasion, fading, cracking and aging associated with environmental and chemical exposures. The mineral’s angular particle shape and low surface area give nepheline syenite coatings easy dispersibility.
