MoonMoon Ceramics Deviled Egg Drape Form (10 Chicken Egg) 9.9" x 1.2"

This is a 3D printed pottery drape form for making a 10 count ceramic deviled egg tray. The eggs have been enlarged to accommodate average 12% clay shrinkage. After your egg tray has been fired it will fit a standard chicken egg.

This egg drape form is hand sanded for a smooth matte surface and is made from strong PLA+ plastic. It is very durable, easy to clean and lightweight.

Clay tips

For quick release of your clay from the form, use a barrier between the clay and the form, such as doubled-up cling film, plastic bags, thin cotton fabric, or corn starch. If you use corn starch as a release agent, make sure to wash your bisque ware before glazing.

Pro tip: Put painter's tape tabs on the form to create little pull tabs, so you can easily remove the form from your clay.

Egg tray directions

1. Roll out a slab of clay, smooth the slab and cut it to the size desired, then drape a barrier or thin plastic on the clay.
2. Drape the cut slab, plastic side down, onto the egg form, starting from the center and working the clay into the form with a damp sponge.
3. Place a ware board on the bottom of the clay egg tray to flatten the feet.
4. Allow the clay to stiffen before flipping, then remove the drape form from the clay.
5. Peel off the plastic, smooth with a sponge or red rib if desired, then dry slowly under plastic.

Do not let your clay dry completely on the form. It will shrink and crack your piece.

Care

Clean with a wet sponge or wash directly in the sink. Do not submerge in water. Dry before using to avoid your clay sticking.

If your form gets scuffed or scratched from normal use, you can lightly wet sand the surface back to smooth, starting with 60, 80 and 120 grit sandpaper and working up to a finer 400-600 grit for a super smooth finish.

Warning: sensitive to high heat. Do not leave in a hot car or hot pottery shed. It will melt under high temperatures. Not recommended for use with a heat gun.
