TRIM TOOLS
These
premium quality trim tools in the 200 SERIES HEAVY GAUGE feature a true tool steel
loop that is hardened, tempered, and then cryogenically treated to
create a super steel blade. The
loop is ¼” wide, and sharp on both edges. Acetate handles have closed
cell foam grips for added comfort. The overall length of each tool is
approximately 6-1/2”. The tools can be re-sharpened for extra long
life.
Our NEW 300 SERIES MEDIUM GAUGE tools are made of a
high carbon steel. The blades are hardened and tempered to withstand
abrasion from clay, but tough enough to be impacted and not break.
Super for trimming and faceting
HEAT TREATED FOR A LONGER LASTING BLADE.
Groovy Tools is a new
concept in trim tools. We start with a blade of the highest quality
steel. The 200 SERIES HEAVY GAUGE TOOLS are made from true tool steel.
The blade is heat treated, tempered, and then re-treated cryogenically
to produce a molecularly superior steel. In our NEW 300 SERIES MEDIUM
GAUGE TOOLS we use a high carbon steel that is hardened and tempered to
withstand the abrasion from clay but tough enough to be impacted and
not break. From the type of steel, to the treating process, right down
to the blade angle, this tool was designed to hold an edge.
The finished blade is
then mated to an acetate handle that is impervious to moisture. No
more worries about wooden handles swelling, blades loosening, or having
to wipe your handles with oil. Our handles are light, strong, and will
last a long, long time.
The final touch is an
ergonomic grip. This gives the handle just a little softness for a
better grip with less fatigue. And the bright colors are really groovy!
ABOUT GROOVY TOOLS
Groovy Tools LLC is a
young company, started by Susan and Dave Burge in Lawrenceburg,
Kentucky. Susan has been working with clay for over nine years, and
sells her creations through her shop, What-A-Crock Pottery. Dave is an engineer by degree, and has no artistic talent.
Susan was well aware of
the difference between premium quality tools and the inexpensive,
run-of-the-mill tools. As high quality tools became harder to come by,
Susan began talking to Dave about making their own tools. One thing
lead to another and Groovy Tools LLC was formed.
From the very first
tool discussions, Susan and Dave knew that the tools needed to be of
the very highest quality. Their focus has always been on tools that
would hold an edge.
Groovy Tools are
made with the best materials possible. The tool steel blade is
sharpened to a keen edge and mated to a fatigue reducing handle that
allows each ceramic artist to achieve results to the best of their
potential. In addition to staying sharp longer, the tool steel can be
successfully re-sharpened. With minimal care, your tools will last a
long time.
We hope you will give
Groovy Tools a try. If you have been using the mass produced tools,
try a premium quality, hand made tool. We know you will like the
difference.
