Sheffield Pottery's Own Paragon "Tall Iguana"
Our variation on the classic Iguana is 7 inches taller inside and powered with reliable extra
heavy-duty Kanthal A-1 elements. This results in long element life, because the
elements do not struggle to reach high temperatures. 10,500 watts
heat the 18 wide, 18 deep, 27 high interior to a full cone 10. 208 volt, three phase, 29 amps per line, Direct wire.
Also available in 240 or 480 volts and single phase.
Mounted in 20" open metal framed stand.
3" Insulating firebrick plus 1" backup board.

Industrial-gauge elements are seated and
protected in dropped, recessed firebrick grooves. The elements are easy
to replace, because you can comfortably reach into the kiln.
Potters and ceramists who struggle with
top-loading kilns will enjoy the Iguana. The detachable door swings open wide on a
heavy ฝ steel rod with sealed bearings. A spring-loaded latch presses
the door tightly closed. A recessed firebrick lip around the door seals
in heat.
The Sentry digital controller is manufactured
by Orton Ceramic Foundation. It is unsurpassed in reliability for a
controller in its price range. Orton cone tables preprogrammed. Storage
for one 20-segment and three 10-segment programs. Programmable
auxiliary output, single zone. It includes a programmed cool-down,
Cone-Fire and Ramp-Hold modes, and is capable of accepting types K, R,
or S thermocouples. A type-K thermocouple with an Inconelฎ sheath comes
standard.
For your peace of mind, the Iguana includes a switch that shuts off power to the controller when not in use.

The furniture kit consists of carefully
selected fireclay shelves and posts for this particular model. When
estimating the price of the kiln, include the cost of furniture. The
furniture allows you to stack multiple layers of ware. Without it, you
could fire only the ware that would fit on the kiln bottom.
