Instead of risking a good piece of greenware on an untried technique,

This kiln is a learning tool you will use over and over, whether you’re
a beginner or a master.
The QuikFire is a ceramic fiber shell with an
embedded element. It measures 6" x 6" x 6" inside. The shell rests on a
ceramic fiber base with steel stand. The QuikFire is rated to 2000°F.
It fires on 120 volts and needs no other heating source. At only 1560
watts, it uses less power than many hair driers.
To see how your work is progressing, tilt the
shell up an inch for several seconds. Read temperature at a glance with
the built-in pyrometer, which indicates when to start watching the ware
inside the kiln.
You can make projects faster with two or more
shelves. As the kiln is firing, prepare your next project on the spare
shelf in the furniture kit. Remove the first shelf and insert the
second. Leave items on the hot shelf that need slow cooling. The shelf
keeps the pieces warm.
Consider purchasing a copy of “Sandi
Scoville’s Basic Glass Fusing Tape,” a QuikFire glass fusing and
slumping video tape. For European voltage, specify the QuikFire 6E.

Uses an infinite control switch to slow the
QuikFire 6 and earlier QuikFire 2 kilns. Slower firing is necessary for
large, thick pieces. Simplifies enameling and fusing decals to ceramics
or glass. May be used for other kilns rated to 120 volts, 15 amps.
